Math 312 Partial Differential Equations for Engineering

This semester I am teaching Math 312: Partial Differential Equations for Engineering. Material covered will include: Solution methods for partial differential equations; science and engineering applications; heat and wave equations, Laplace's equation; separation of variables; Fourier series and transforms; special functions.

Math 462/512 Introduction to Ordinary Differential Equations

Schedule: Section 01: TTh 2:00 - 3:15pm

This semester I am teaching Math 462/512: Introduction to Ordinary Differential Equations. This is a first year graduate course designed for students in applied mathematics. It is also one half of the prepatory sequence for the differential equations qualifying exam. Material covered will include: Linear systems. Existence and uniqueness theorems, flows, linearized stability for critical points, stable manifold theorem. Gradient and Hamiltonian systems. Limit sets, attractors, periodic orbits, Floquet theory and the Poincare Map. Introduction to bifurcations.
